Eagles Kingdom takes home a win against Indians
October 29, 2019
Liberty Eagles earn their final win of the season against Holt Indians 42-32 and are ready for anything coming their way on Friday, Nov. 1 against Fort Zumwalt South.
This win over Holt also proved the Eagles to be the top team of the three schools in the Wentzville School District. Earlier this season, Liberty took home a win against Timberland for the first time in school history, making the members of this team the first to ever beat both the Wolves and Indians in the same season.
“I hit him and I looked up and saw the score and it’s just crazy, the crowd and the energy. I love it,” sophomore David Richard said of his game-changing play where he sacked a Holt player, causing a fumble that was recovered by Luke Linden for an Eagles touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
Richard wasn’t the only player to step up in a tough game like this. Senior Ben Adelsberger, after a minor injury, pushed through and earned the Eagles three touchdowns throughout the game.
The Eagles finish with a 6-3 record for the regular season, making history, yet again. The 2019-2020 Eagles football team is the first-ever to go into the postseason with a winning record.
“This team has really bought into what the coaches have been preaching. Our leadership has really stepped up this year,” McMillen said.
