WSD Closed Due To COVID-19
All schools will be closed starting March 16 to April 3
“After meeting today with the leaders of the St. Charles County Department of Public Health, we have made a decision to proactively close all schools in the Wentzville School District in response to the COVID-19 pandemic,” Dr. Cain said.
All around the world, school districts are closing to combat the spread of the recent Coronavirus (COVID-19).
In a message sent out from Superintendent Dr. Cain on March 15, he verifies the closing of all schools in the WSD due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“After meeting today with the leaders of the St. Charles County Department of Public Health, we have made a decision to proactively close all schools in the Wentzville School District in response to the COVID-19 pandemic,” Dr. Cain said.
There will be no school in the WSD from Monday, March 16 to Friday, April 3. All school activities, including athletic and extracurricular practices and competitions, are canceled during this time as well.
Dr. Cain also states the effect that this closure will have on WSD staff.
“We will care for our staff by ensuring that their pay continues during specified days of the emergency closure,” Dr. Cain said.
Students, keep in mind that this is not an extended spring break. Teachers were instructed to make lesson plans in case of a district-wide closure on Friday, March 13.
Dr. Cain will be providing updates on the current situation through the district website, emails and social media.
Other local districts such as Fort Zumwalt and Francis Howell are also closed until April 3.
