Cross Country athletes make pancakes at the 2023 cross country breakfast.
The cross country team hosted a pancake breakfast for friends and family on Feb. 1 to come in and eat some of the pancakes that the cross country athletes made.
“The reason for the breakfast is to raise money for our cross country team so we can go out of town and support our team,” Mary-Jane Fleming (11) said.
During the week leading up to the event, the cross country team sold tickets for people to come and posted on social media.
The person in charge of setting it all up is Coach Ulsas as well as Coach Glavin is helping out.

“Last year was my first year running the pancake breakfast and Glavin was helping me walk through the process of what that looks like,” Ulsas said. “This year has been kind of hard because I don’t have access to all of the emails on Focus school software so it’s been kind of back-and-forth with Glavin to send out stuff to all of the stuff to all of the parents just about information.”
Glavin and Ulsas take care of making sure everything is just set up and ready to go on the day of.
“I’m going to the store to buy the mix and the sausage and the juice and whatever we need,” Ulsas said prior to the breakfast.
“Apparently last year my pancakes were really bad so I’m going to try a little bit harder so I don’t get flamed,” Nate Wietbrock (11) said.
When everything is set up, all of the cross country athletes will make the pancakes for the visitors.
“I signed up because one it’s a fun to help out the team and two I can get NHS hours for it,” Jasper Leech (11) said.
This event is a great bonding experience for not only the team, but also for any visitors who come. They can sit down, eat some pancakes and talk to loved ones. Hopefully there will be a great turn out to the cross country pancake breakfast.
