Are High Schoolers too Old to Trick or Treat?

The debate of joining in on a ‘childish’, but enjoyable holiday.

Spooky season is upon us, and people young and old are getting into the Halloween spirit. Trick or treating as a teen is a hot topic. There was a survey conducted and 25 people total were interviewed. There were 16 people who lean on the side of no to dressing up on Halloween and 9 say yes. Most think that kids of any age should be able to have fun on the non-official holiday, but others have another opinion.

Junior Jessie Moore believes that teens should be able to participate in the tradition.

“It’s all about having Halloween spirit. Just dress up and have fun, it doesn’t matter how old you are.”

Freshman Aryanna Franklin is very passionate about the topic.

“Heckity deckity no! High schoolers are still young and are supposed to have fun. Being older just means more chances to improve on your costumes. And plus, who wants to miss out on candy!”

Junior Joey Busselman leans towards the other side of the argument.

“Yeah, but if you go with your younger sibling or something it’s fine. Halloween is for kids.”

Sophomore Rylee Peanick is slightly in the middle.

“Kind of. If they dress up for an occasion then no, but if they just wear a onesie then yes.”
