With each new year, a new set of students joins the drama club. They all come in with their own hopes and dreams for what their high school theater careers will bring.
Bella Milatovic (9) served on the props crew for the fall play “Trap.” She plans to stay in the drama club all throughout her time here. Milatovic says that she enjoyed her time on the props crew.
“I think making the glasses was a lot of fun,” Milatovic said. “I enjoy hands-on stuff like that.” In the future, she hopes to break out of the behind the scenes and get to perform on stage.
Lexi Mitchell (9) was a part of “Trap” as a member of the set crew and as an audience plant.
“We were put in the audience, and nobody knew that we were part of the show. We got to scare everyone around us at the end of the show,” Mitchell said.
Mitchell was “Cellphone Girl.” She was put in the play to help it feel more realistic and to distract people from the fact that they were falling into a trap. In the future, Mitchell plans to stay in theater. Her goal is to get larger parts as the years go on, and hopefully get a leading role.
Addison Hillyard (9) worked on set crew for the fall play. She enjoyed getting to work backstage, something that was not offered in middle school. She has plans to stay in the drama club for the next four years.
“I think I’ll try auditioning for the musical since I saw what backstage was like,” Hillyard said. “Also because I think being onstage is a lot better of an experience than it was in middle school. There are a lot more freedoms.”
Sam Woollard (9) played Jonathan Mollusk and Principal Harte in the play. Woollard is very happy with how the play turned out. He has plans to stay in theater throughout all four years. Woollard says that he hopes to stay on stage as much as possible.
“I hope to gain the trust of the directors so that I can get better roles,” Woollard said.
With every new member, a new set of hopes and dreams gets much closer to being realized. Each student has the power to do their absolute best and reach these goals.
