Have you used a vending machine before? Maybe waiting at a doctor’s office or at a park. They offer snacks and beverages. They may not be the healthiest or the best, but it satisfies our craving or hunger for the time-being.
Well, we actually have vending machines in our school that many have already used. Students after school can use it after long practices, club meetings, or other events.
Many students love vending machines. They were open all the time for the first two months and then were locked down. Now they are only available before and after school.
There are many reasons why this may be. People could be abusing this privilege or spending time at the vending machines instead of classes. So what happened to the vending machines and how do they affect our school?
Students use the vending machines for food if they are not satisfied with their lunch from home or the cafeteria. Some students naturally might have more of an appetite and use the vending machines for extra calories to feel full. There are also things in the vending machine that the cafeteria doesn’t offer. Students might prefer what is in the vending machine and skip out on the meal inside the cafeteria and that could be a double edged sword.
“I’m hungry in between classes and it [is unfortunate] because I can’t use the vending machines for a quick snack,” Samara Pleasants (9) said.
On the other hand, the vending machines can affect our academic environment. Students may skip classes and feed off the vending machines. This can cause, one, a distraction from what a school is supposed to be used for and two, wouldn’t allow others to have the privilege of the vending machines.
