Christmas time is about cheer and bringing communities together. Student council has held many events to help our school feel that holiday spirit.

This year StuCo took a different approach to the door decorating that usually takes place during this time of the year. Most years members of StuCo will go to different doors and decorate for the teachers to add to the Christmas spirit. This year though they left it up to the teachers.

This year we decided to change things up to give teachers more creative freedom with what they want on their doors,” Sophia Sawyer (12) said. “This way they can not only decide what goes up outside their room but we get to see their artistic abilities we don’t normally see. This also is a cool way for teachers to bond with their students while making their doors.”

A multitude of teachers across our school have participated in the door decoration contest, hosted from Dec, 5-17. Teachers and students have been working tirelessly to perfect their doors, or hallways, to be the one to stand out from the rest.

The one who stood out the most was our nurse’s, Santa Operation themed door. The nurses made a door based on the game “Operation” for their door and secured the win for the door winner.

The hallway winner though was the 500 hallway, created mostly by Missy Gehrke’s 8th hour class. They did a Grinch/Whoville themed hallway. They included multiple different aspects of the movie into their hallway allowing them to secure the hallway winner spot. They will be receiving donuts from the Sweet Spot for their win.

“We had such a fun time figuring out how to bring holiday cheer to our hallway,” Gehrke said. “It seemed perfect to have the Grinch represented with the Whoville Choir and fun Seuss-like band instruments and, of course, Max the dog as the star.”

Three teachers were able to also have bragging rights for this competition as they earned honorable mention: Brooke Braswell, Katie Rosner, and Kirsten Hunchberger.
