Lucas Schwartz (11) has a way with people. As a junior, he tries to make most of his time spent in high school.
For Schwartz, school is not just classes and grades, but a means to get to know new people and connect with others he may never have talked to. This openness and curiosity helped him through high school and shape his time here.
Outside of school, Schwartz manages to juggle his life between school and the demands of a part-time job. He admits that while it sometimes stresses him out, he genuinely enjoys the experience. The workplace environment encourages him to keep going and the pay gives him financial freedom. Getting a job has been one of those moments that have defined Schwartz not just because of the income, but also because of the worthy experience it gives, which he views as a stepping stone for future opportunities.
His biggest struggle academically is in Algebra 2, but through hard work and determination, he knows the outcomes will pay off. With persistence, he has been able to overcome the challenges and experience success.
One teacher Schwartz really appreciates is his English teacher Matthew Eversole. Eversole’s teaching style relates quite well with teenagers because he is the kind of teacher who can relate to the students on a personal level to help them in their academic career.
For Schwartz, it is not about academics or work in high school; it is about development, freedom, and preparation for the future. With such a positive approach and determination, he is en route to a great future one step and one connection at a time.
