When you think about why people decide to pursue fitness, you may hear a lot of different answers. Some might say a new year’s resolution turned into a lifelong hobby while others might say they wanted to start a healthy life. But have you ever wondered how fitness teachers get into fitness?

Gregory Franklin, a P.E. teacher, expresses the journey he’s been through. And the beginning of when he really fell in love with the aspect of fitness.

Franklin’s fitness journey started from a young age. While growing up, he was raised  in a household that revolved around fitness and sports. He was able to see how important health was. And his parents taught him early on that taking care of your body was important.

So when Franklin finally reached high school, It was no problem for him to start his true fitness journey.

He did sports in school and took more sports-driven classes as well. And while he didn’t prefer the basic classwork handed out by teachers, classes that revolved around fitness was where he fit in.

“I loved sports in high school,” Franklin said. “I didn’t want to be a teacher, 15 years ago it would have never crossed my brain.”

Like most of us, any journey we take is never going to be in a straight line. And while Franklin couldn’t see himself teaching more than a decade ago, he was able to realize his true love for fitness. When experiencing the jolt of energy and the overall feeling of being healthy, he knew he had to share that experience with others.

“You never know where life is going to lead you,” Franklin said.

And while he’s taught fitness, he has been able to help others grow and also enroot the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle.

“If it’s even one small thing that they take away from this class, it is that fitness is important. Leading a healthy lifestyle will only better you down the road,” Franklin said.

So, if you’ve been aching to try working out. or bettering your health, take Franklin’s story while fitness may not have been enrooted in you from a young age. Remember it is important to take care of your health because living a healthy lifestyle is good for us all.
