Music fills the halls, a symphony of pride swells in the chest of the adorned.

Along the halls, nervous artists cling to their instruments and clear their throats, prepared to command your attention for a portion of your life, and wishing to paint time with a melodic color.

On March. 1, this past Saturday, students in band and choir competed in the District Solo and Small Ensemble festival.

This event allows students to showcase their talents in the realm of a more individualized perspective, and provides opportunity for performance experience beyond that of their school. Our Eagles soared, and showcased their immense talent with sophistication and grit.

Liberty excelled at this competition, with 47 students in 25 groups heading to the state competition, after receiving “exemplary” ratings. 14 “outstanding” and 3 “satisfactory” rankings also represented our school in this event.

With 13 groups from band moving on to the state competition, this represents a record high for our concert ensemble, and propels a sense of pride and hope for the future.

These awards do not come without significant effort, however, as dynamics only bloom with the air you resuscitate into your instrument.

“My group and I worked really hard together, and practiced for many weeks. It was really inspiring to come together and create something,” winning soloist and ensemblist, Audrey Keller (12) said.

The efforts does not come without fruition, however, and the creation of art alone provides beauty where there was but potential, previously.

Winning soloist Keron Bowman (11), exemplifies the satisfaction of achievement.

“Excelling in a solo is so rewarding. You can credit all of your success directly to the work you put in, and the hours you practiced. There is not anything like it,” Bowman said.

Congratulations to our Liberty choir and band. You represent our school with pride, and we appreciate the work that you do.
