Kennedi Brower (12) and Allison Greer (10) have set new school records for the girls varsity basketball program. Brower’s record was the most rebounds in a career (562), while Greer’s record was most three-pointers in a single game (7).

“My goal the whole game was pretty much to get as many rebounds as I could to beat the record,” Brower said.

Brower’s record, “Most Rebounds in a Career,” was mentioned before throughout the team, so when she finally made that last rebound she needed, everybody knew what she had just done.

“When I did break it, my team was cheering me on and being super loud for me. And the stands were also cheering really loud,” Brower said.

Head coach Joseph Walterbach also called a timeout for the team to celebrate her accomplishment.

“We called a timeout so we could celebrate with her,” Walterbach said. “I’m so proud of her. She’s been on varsity since freshman year, so for me, being with her for four years, it’s awesome.”

“In the moment, I knew that I had broken the record. When I hit my 7th three, I said ‘There’s the 7th,’” Bower said.

Greer’s record, “Most Three Pointers Made in a Game,” was less known than Brower’s record, because this one was a single game record. But when the time did come to where she made that 7th three pointer, her coach and teammates were still cheering just as loud for her achievement.

“When I broke my record, my teammates were so excited for me. They all got up and started cheering really loud and hyping me up, it was such an amazing feeling,” Greer said.

This record felt a little extra special for Greer, because last year, an injury prevented her from playing a portion of the season.

“I was so excited that I broke it because last year, my season got cut short from my knee injury, so this was my comeback year,” Greer said.
