Rained Out Pink Out

Rain puts a damper on annual Pink out football game

soaking-in-the-standsOn Friday, Sept. 16, Liberty held the annual Pink out football game. Losing 25-22 against Holt in overtime was the least of the problems.

The forecast was not agreeing with the Eagles as the rain kept falling with no intent of stopping. The heavy rain kept much of the crowd at home.

The usual ticket table was turned over and wasn’t collecting money. Some students were passing out free popcorn saying “no one is going to buy it anyway.”

After days of anticipation for the game, from pajama days to the spirit wear of the pink out, the weather did not cooperate.

Despite the conditions, the committed students brought their rain ponchos and umbrellas and toughed it through.

Albert Edney, sophomore, was upset because the band got cancelled. He says “the morale was down at the game. It was wet and dark and sorrowful.”

Even though the game was a bust, pink out day recognized a good cause.

“My mom had breast cancer and this really brings awareness to the problems and can help solve a cure,” freshman Khloe Duff said.
