Nintendo Switch: Game Changer?
I got the Nintendo Switch at the midnight release and here’s a quick review
March 7, 2017
Finally, gamers may rejoice in the fact that we can play both at home and on the go on the same platform, known as the Nintendo Switch. With amazing technology put into the device, people can playfully fledge games (A.K.A Skyrim Special Edition, NBA 2K 2017-18, and much more amazing titles) and not just some half-baked handheld games. This will truly be a revolutionary system for the gaming market.
To start things off, on a new announcement on Jan. 12 followed by many others stated that the Nintendo Switch would be up for preorder on the 13th or the next day. I ran up to the store, very excited to preorder myself my very own Nintendo Switch. By the time I arrived at the store, there were already a few people but there were plenty of preorders to go around, so I got one.
Almost a month and a half later, and here I am. In a line, at 12:30 a.m. with at least 40 strangers I don’t know. I walked up to one of the people in the line, who didn’t want to disclose his name, and asked how he was feeling about the Nintendo Switch. He said, “I’ve been excited for this ever since the rumors of a portable console was being produced by Nintendo. I just can’t wait to get my hands on that thing. Sorry work, but I’m calling in sick!”
I walked into the store, handed them the money and walked out with my head held high as I’d just gotten my hands on the new Nintendo Switch and three games (Snipperclips, Fast RMX and of course, Zelda: Breath of the Wild.) Also, I dropped around $50-$100 dollars on accessories, buying an extra charger, a case, and two screen protectors. (Pro tip: Always buy glass screen protectors and also buy two of them. In case one gets scratched, you can just pull the second out and slap it on.)
The moment I got home, I opened the system and found the greatest thing of 2017. A brand new, shiny, black, smooth, (and any other adjectives you can think of to describe how perfect it is.)
At first, it was awkward, holding a flat screen with two grips on the side. I turned on the screen and my initial reaction was a little disappointment, though when I started up Zelda: Breath of the Wild all of my initial disappointment flew away. After 20 minutes or so, I started to love the Switch. I found my way to grip it and the quickest ways to reach buttons. I was also scared at first because of my massive sausage fingers. I didn’t know if I would be able to play it comfortably, and after that 20 minutes, all of the doubt disappeared with comfort.
Honestly, the Nintendo Switch is definitely one of my favorite consoles I’ve ever played. It’s comfortable, powerful, and has an amazing screen. (Also if you didn’t know, you can play it on the T.V. with the power dock it comes with.) I can’t wait to see the Nintendo Switch’s future. I hope it does well and I hope that everyone gets one so they can all enjoy the Switch together.
