Disney Fans Get First Glimpse at Upcoming Films at D23 Expo
Disney’s studios releases exciting show announcements

All of you Disney, Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar fans got huge information this past weekend. Tons of trailers and show announcements were made at D23 from Sept. 9-11.
Disney released an incredible first glimpse of their live action Little Mermaid, starring Halle Bailey. They also announced a live action Snow White starring Rachel Zegler, with Gal Gadot as the evil stepmother.
The trailer to Hocus Pocus 2, which will be released onto Disney+ Sept. 30, was also shown at D23.
Since we’re talking about sequels, I might as well mention the sequel to Enchanted: Disenchanted. It’s been 15 years since the first movie was released, and we’re unfortunately going to have to wait a little while longer. But if you want a look at the trailer click here.
Some other announcements Disney Studios made: Peter Pan and Wendy, with Jude Law playing Captain Hook. Mufasa: The Lion King, a prequel focusing on Mufasa’s rise to power. And a new Haunted Mansion movie based on the ride.
Now what did Marvel release and/or announce?
They shared an exclusive scene from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, coming to theaters Nov. 11.
Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantamania, will be the beginning of phase 5. Coming to theaters Feb. 17, 2023.
Matt Shakman, director of Wandavison, was officially announced to be the director of Fantastic Four.
Captain America: New World Order, starring Anthony Mackie, was announced to be released on May 3, 2024.
Some other highlights from Marvel: The Marvels teaser trailer and release date were announced, July 8, 2023. The Thunderbolts characters were announced to be Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Ghost, Red Guardian, Black Widow, Winter Soldier, US Agent and Taskmaster. This will be one crazy show. Werewolf By Night’s trailer was released, and it was announced to stream on Disney+ Oct. 7. Secret Invasions trailer was released, and Armor Wars was announced to pick up where Secret Invasion leaves off. Loki season two will be released next summer. Echo, got an exclusive trailer, and was announced to be released “soon.” Lastly, Daredevil will be an 18 episode season starring Charlie Cox.
The good news doesn’t stop there. Star Wars fans went crazy when the trailer for season three of The Mandalorian was released. They also went nuts when the final trailer for Andor was announced.
The new live action series Ahsoka had some images revealed, and they were given a sneak peak into Skeleton Crew, starring Jude Law.
On Jan. 4 2023, there will be a two episode kickoff to The Bad Batch season two, and Tales of the Jedi will be released on Oct. 26.
Now those of you who love a good animation, it’s time for Pixar. Zootopia will be getting a spinoff series, and a new series called Iwájú will be released in 2023 on Disney+.
We were given another look at Strange World, starring Jake Gyllenhaal. It’ll come to theaters Nov. 23. Also announced was Wish, a movie about wishing upon a star.
Inside Out will be receiving a sequel, scheduled to come to theaters in the summer of 2024. The movie Elemental was announced to come out next summer, and we got a first look at Eilo.
The last thing announced by Pixar is Win or lose, which will be a multi perspective series.
The last bit of information I’m going to give you comes from Lucasfilm, 20th Century Studios, and some miscellaneous Disney releases.
Harrison Ford made a stop at D23 and gave a heart-filled speech about the new Indiana Jones 5 movie, the T.V. adaptation of Willow also got another trailer.
The director of Avatar, called in to the D23 Expo to talk about the highly anticipated sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water.
On Nov. 16th The Santa Clauses, a miniseries following Tim Allen from the movie trilogy, will be dropped on to Disney+ with a two episode kickoff.
National Treasure: Edge of History, will be a spinoff of the original movie series as well, and will begin streaming Dec. 14.
Finally, a long awaited teaser trailer for the T.V adaption of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, originally written by Rick Riordan, was released.
