On most Saturdays, the marching band of Liberty High School pours into the school with one thing on their mind – competition day.

Their first performance of the year was on Sept. 16th when the Eagle Regiment traveled to Edwardsville, Ill. and went home happy by placing fourth in their division.

Lamonya Lathon, a sophomore saxophone player, explained how she thought the band was prepared.

“Hours a week go into band and it was nice to see our hard work paid off,” she said.

Wearing the marching band uniform can be a struggle when the sun is baking you alive in 90 degree heat.

And as you can imagine the freshmen must have been nervous.

“I think it was a combination of them being nervous and it was also their first time wearing their uniform,” band director Mrs. Magno said.

The following Saturday the Eagle Regiment went to McKendree University for another competition. They focused on what they needed to improve on and take home third place this time.
