Athletes and staff gathered in the large gym early in the morning on Wednesday, Aug. 21 to welcome KMOV (Channel 4) to school.
Our school was selected as one of this year’s “Back to School Tour” schools, which was showcased on KMOV at 5 a.m.
The “Back to School Tour” is a tour KMOV runs, which allows schools in select districts to showcase their school pride and essentially promote the district and the talent each school holds.
KMOV, which is also known as Channel 4, is a news channel that is located in the St. Louis area. This news channel showcases many different topics such as shows, news, meteorology, and so much more.
Student-athletes from all sports came into school bright and early to represent their team on television. Teams such as football, soccer, cheer, dance, softball, tennis, volleyball, and even cross country came in early to show their love for Liberty and school pride.
Not only sports teams, but even STUCO members and band members came together to promote our school.
When it comes to school pride, we show it best, according to Channel 4 news host and meteorologist Matt Chambers.
“This is our third stop on the ‘Back to School Tour’ this week and it was my favorite of the week,” Chambers said.
The cheer, band, and dance regiment all performed the Eagle fight song during the live broadcast stream on Channel 4, which then led to interviews with many different sports athletes.
Softball student-athlete Alyssa Eudy woke up early in the morning at around 4 a.m. to come to support her team.
“I came to represent softball, and to have some fun, and to hopefully get a free donut,” Eudy said.
Administrators rewarded these students with donuts after the two hour on and off livestream. It was a good treat to have for these students after all their hard work.
