When he was younger, Nicholas Kuhn (10) got an interesting nickname from his aunt. Since he and his dad had the same name, Nicholas’ aunt started calling him Nickel Pickle.
Now, everyone at school knows him as Pickle; friends, teachers, and coaches.
Kuhn plays on both the JV soccer and varsity hockey teams.
His whole family plays soccer, so he decided to follow in their footsteps. He loves making friends and just having fun on the team. He feels like the team did good this season but there was room for improvement.
“My favorite part of the season was making memories with the team,” Kuhn said.
Kuhn’s cousin played hockey and it made him want to try it out. He ended up loving it. His favorite part is going out of town with his friends for road games and making memories with everyone.
“He really energetic, he’s just a fun guy to play with,” teammate, Connor Casella (10) said. “ One day, coach was trying to hype us up, and he just started screaming in the locker room.”
This season he is looking forward to doing the best he and his team can do and playing as many games as possible. To prepare for the season, he has been working hard at club and for Liberty to achieve these goals.
He doesn’t have many superstitions, but one he has to do is tape his hockey stick before the first game of a weekend stretch of games.
On a typical game day when he has school, Khun’s routine is pretty simple. He wakes up and goes to school, then goes home, showers, and goes to the game.
No matter where he is, at school or sports, he will always reply to the name Pickle.
