Some customers believe the specialty designs make 3:14 cakes stand out, while others may say it is Makenzie Keiling’s considerate and hardworking personality.
Keiling is a 2022 Liberty High School graduate that has a passion for baking.
“I’ve worked in different bakeries since I was 16,” Keiling said. “I’ve always loved baking but I really desired to decorate certain designs that were different, but trending at the time.”
Thinking outside the box and following her ideas led her down her own path, and 3:14 cakes was born.
3:14 cakes has been in business for a year and a half now with booming success.
Aicha Beye, a 2024 LHS graduate, shares her experience.
“My cake was fantastic,” Beye said. “I would 100% order again and recommend it to anyone.”
Keiling takes time carefully personalizing the process of each cake she makes.
The best part of baking cakes is “100% the decorating process,” Keiling said. “I absolutely hate the mounds of dishes I have to do.”
Beye agrees that the decorating is beautiful.
“Everything from the piping to the placement of the little edible pearls was gorgeous,” Beye said.
Keiling shares that some of her favorite memories are making meaningful cakes such as gender reveals and wedding cakes, explaining she loves sharing in the emotions. She shares special meaning with her cakes, with her customers, and in the name of her business.
“The name ‘3:14 cakes’ has a double meaning. It’s of course our lovely area code. It’s also inspired by my favorite Bible verse, Colossians 3:14,” Keiling said.
Clearly, Keiling’s business is flourishing, but she testifies that there are highs and lows regardless of occupation. She gives other entrepreneurs advice.
“Stick with it. It’s really fun some days and really hard others. You’ll work around the clock and still have more to go but it’ll all be worth it.” Keiling said.
