Game of the Year or Console of the Century?

Nintendo claims not only the best game of the year, but is also the runner up. Can anything stop them?

It’s finally time to admit it…Nintendo is no longer the underdog in the gaming industry. Breaking through and showing everyone what it takes to make a good game, with literally two out of five games up for GOTY (Game of the Year) being produced by Nintendo. It’s quite funny hearing people still talk about how the Switch is just a fad with no good games, even though The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was nominated for GOTY. Even better than that the moment it was nominated, a new DLC pack was dropped, pushing it past the point of being GOTY. (a.k.a, gamers rejoice!)

Ever since March 3rd 2017, people have been on either two sides of the debate. Either you were a believer in the Switch and wanted to see it flourish, or you were…on the wrong side. If you can’t tell I’m extremely bias and want to see the Switch exceed everyone’s expectations. Though bias aside, this was a fantastic year for the Switch with the units sold skyrocketing off the charts and into the heavens of gaming. In fact, the Switch is expected to overpower the Xbox in terms of sales in the next few years. For those that aren’t impressed by those numbers, I would like you to keep in mind that the Xbox One has been on the market for around five years now, pushing six. Where the Switch has been on the board for a whooping nine months.

What I’m trying to get at is that not only has the Switch sold over 2 million units in America alone, but it also has fantastic games. Games worthy of being GOTY. You can’t stop that, and I believe that the switch will have a large impact on the gaming community for years to come.
