Boys Basketball
The varsity boys basketball season is going well so far they are 17-4 right now with wins and losses. This season they are tournament champions at the Lutheran High Tournament for the second year in a row. They won the consolation championship at the prestigious Coaches vs. Cancer holiday tournament over Christmas break. Also during conference play after Christmas break, they hit 13 3-point field goals in there game vs. Troy, which is quite an accomplishment. “For the end of the year I am hoping that our team can continue to grow and play together,” head coach Sodemann said. “We have our sights set on a second consecutive conference championship.”
Girls Basketball

The varsity girls basketball team is working hard and getting better everyday they are 9-11 with wins and losses. Overall, girls basketball plays a pretty tough schedule. They came in second place in the Warrenton tournament and played for the consolation championship of the Herman tournament this season. One of the varsity girls, Kennedi Brower (12), broke the career rebounding record and another player, Ali Greer (10), broke the record of the most made 3’s in a game (she made 7). “If we play defense and rebound better anything can happen,” girls varsity basketball head coach Joe Walterbach said. Girls varsity basketball finishes their season with conference play. They are in the GAC South division which is the hardest in the state, so they will be tested every game. “These girls are hard workers and are truly a team,” Coach Walterbach said.
Girls Swim and Dive
The varsity record is 4-3 but head coach Gregory Franklin says that “some of those meets the girls should have won but we don’t have a diver this season which has cost points for the team. Two of those losses were within 10 points and if we had a diver, those would have turned into team wins.” This season there have been tri meets against Pattonville and Marquette which LHS placed second in both. These tri meets really helped the girls achieve some of their personal best records this season, those teams have really good swimmers so it helped push the girls in doing their best. “It’s not always about where you finish, it’s how you finish and what the positives are to take away from each meet,” coach Franklin said. The regular season has ended so the girls are focusing on GAC’s and state that is coming up. A big accomplishment for girls swimming this season is that as of now the 200 medley, 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay teams have qualified for state along with Emma Nolan (12) also qualifying for the 50 and 100 freestyle and Delaney Bartles (10) qualifying for the 100 butterfly, 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke so they have a chance of competing at state. “The season has flown by but has gone well. We have had a great group of girls to work with and their dedication has been amazing,” Franklin said.
