The Show for a Bigger Show
The Liberty Belles are hosting a fundraiser showcase to raise money for uniforms and trip to nationals
Liberty High School’s dance team, the Liberty Belles, have had a great five years of preparation for competitions and competition themselves. Now it is the time of year for the big showcase, on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. It’s $5 admission to watch the event.
Dance studios across the St. Louis area are coming to Liberty High to showcase each studio. Frontier Middle School’s dance team will also perform in the showcase.
Senior Nikki Casteel, a Liberty Belle on varsity, is performing a solo dance and two group numbers in the showcase. She has been participating for all five years that the showcase has been going on. Cateel danced for Frontier Middle in the show five years ago and has followed through dancing with Liberty all the way to her senior year.
“This showcase is so important because this is our biggest fundraiser to help with the cost of uniforms, and being able to go to the NDA nationals in Orlando, Florida,” Casteel said.
There are going to be four Liberty teams performing at the showcase on Saturday. The JV teams for both cheer and dance have a routine for the show, as well as the varsity teams for cheer and dance plus our winter guard and our very own Liberty Bros.
Abby Jordan, a freshman JV Liberty Belle, is performing in one dance. This is Jordan’s first year in the showcase.
“[I think this showcase is so important because it is] sharing dances with other people that love dance and to prepare and to become more comfortable with performing,” Jordan said.
Jordan also advises to bring money for a huge bake sale occuring. “The bake sale brings in the a lot of proceeds from the fundraiser.”
Liberty can’t wait to see all the studios and teams perform this weekend.
