Prom’s Personalities

Prom is the perfect time to find a dress that expresses your style and helps show people your true colors

It’s about that time. Time to find the perfect dress, the perfect hairstyle and to plan the perfect night. It’s time for prom.

Abbey Brzycki (junior)

Soft, light colors and pastels with flowing designs

Junior Abbey Brzycki has found a white and coral, two piece dress for prom. It also has other shades of pink in the mix that are perfect for the upcoming spring season.

“It was the first dress I tried on, and it was the one,” Brzycki said.

Most girls, when trying on dresses for any occasion, seem to go through about a million dresses before they find the one, especially for prom. But, this was not the case for Brzycki.

At school, on a day to day basis, Brzycki wears leggings, a t-shirt or sweatshirt, with tennis shoes or converse in a cute but comfortable style.

“It depends on where I shop, but mainly Target,” states Brzycki.

Brzycki is ready to show her sweet style at prom this year.

Bennett Outman (senior)

Daring designs with bold colors

“Being able to find a dress for cheap and not overspend is the best.” –  Bennett Outman

Bennett Outman really shows her style through what she wears. Her style is “laid back and boho”.

But, she also takes care of herself first. As the varsity swim captain, the winter season can get really busy.

“When swim season arrives every year, I put less effort into what I wear because I need sleep,” Outman said.

When it comes to prom season however, Outman is all about being cute and comfortable. Her favorite type of dress is one that is easy to dance in and comfortable. But price matters also.

“Being able to find a dress for cheap and not overspend is the best,” Outman said.

For this year’s prom, Outman’s dress is all black with a low cut top. She proves that you can be bold and stand out without draining your bank account.

The dress doesn’t matter; the experience does

Junior Katie Hill hasn’t decided if she wants to go to prom yet. She doesn’t want to feel obligated to find a dress that’s perfect.

For her, the only thing about the dress that matters is feeling pretty in it. Hill doesn’t want to get a dress just because she thinks it would impress other people.

On a normal day, Hill can be seen in comfortable jeans and a sweatshirt. Comfort is key, and she always has that mentality, even going into prom.

Hill also doesn’t want to overspend on prom this year because she wants to attend prom next year, as a senior.

“Prom is a lot of money, and I’m going next year, especially as a senior,” Hill said.

It is up to Hill to decide whether or not to go prom, but either way, she will put the experience above the dress.

Emma Ingle (senior)

Exotic

“Out of the box” designs and patterns-

“I discovered that if I picked out fun outfits to wear then it would make me more excited to go to school.” – Emma Ingle

Emma Ingle, a senior, has an exotic style. Meaning, she wears unique clothes like vintage shoes, skirts and other bold patterns. She typically shops at places like resale shops, always searching for the best pieces that fit into her style. For prom, she is looking online for a dress that is a good price, but still suits her.

An exotic style is one not commonly seen, and is inspired by many different factors. For Ingle, it helped motivate her to go to school.

“I discovered that if I picked out fun outfits to wear then it would make me excited to go to school,” Ingle said.

After making a conscious effort to make the best outfit, it eventually became a habit for Ingle. Now, she walks the halls in quirky clothes that fit with her personality.

Whatever your reason, don’t be afraid to show who you are through your dress or tux. Prom is an opportunity to express yourself and your style.
