The new Smoothie King will be located at 105 Pond Fort Trail. It will be placed between the West Community Credit Union and the Lake St. Louis Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy.

Everyone’s favorite place is finally coming to town. After a few years of Liberty students and local citizens wishing for it to be built, Smoothie King is soon to be here.

On March 2, the city of Lake St. Louis Facebook page stated that the building permit for the new Smoothie King was issued on March 3. The new building will be located at 105 Pond Fort Trail. It will be placed across from QT in between the West Community Credit Union and the Lake St. Louis Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy.

“I love Smoothie King,” sophomore Hillary Hines said. “I don’t really like smoothies, but I like theirs. It’ll be nice having it so close to our school.”

Liberty used to have Smoothie King. Two years ago, every Friday HOSA would sell small cups of Smoothie King at lunch. But sadly, they aren’t allowed to bring it back.

“Due to the new food regulations, we aren’t able to sell them at lunch anymore,” HOSA sponsor Mrs. Strathman said. “If they’d let us, we would totally bring it back, but for now we aren’t able to.”

A lot of students at Liberty were a little disappointed due to the fact that the new regulations labeled the smoothies as “unhealthy,” and were not able to purchase them last year and this year.

The closest Smoothie King near Liberty is the one of Hwy K in O’Fallon. That’s a bit of a drive for some people. Having one built in Lake St. Louis will save some time and gas for some students.

“I really excited about it,” junior Jessica Boyer said. “I won’t have to drive so far since one is opening so close.”

Friday’s are a popular day for Smoothie King. They have $5 Friday’s for select drinks, where a 32 oz. smoothie, normally priced at $7.29, are only five bucks.

Many people are excited about the new building. It’ll be nice being able to go and get a smoothie right after school. Better start saving now.
