Countdown to Summer

Five tips on how to survive the last weeks of school

Summer time is coming up, but we have to make it through the last weeks of school first.

The thing on everybody’s minds right now is summer. With less than four weeks left in the school year and the spring weather holding out on us, the wait can seem excruciating. But never fear, here are some ways to make the wait a little more bearable. Here are some tips to help you finish out the school year.

1. Plan Ahead

For me personally when I plan out my week it goes by a lot faster. Make a list of things you need to accomplish this week and check them off as you accomplish them. This will make you feel like you are achieving all of your goals and make the day seem more productive.

2. Don’t Procrastinate

Waiting to complete assignments at the last minute will make these last weeks more stressful. With finals coming up, you do not want to have other projects to complete as well as studying for finals. Finish your work as it is assigned and it should make your after school life much easier.

3. Stay Focused

I know with summer so close it can be easy to fall behind and begin to not care about completing assignments, but stay motivated. The end is near and you need to push through it now that you can see the finish line. Losing focus will cause your grades to suffer and after working so hard all year you don’t want to throw that away now.

4. Don’t Stress

I know that the end of the school year can be very stressful. With finals, projects and making sure you pass your classes. All of these things can make the stress pile up. To help with it, try something new and relaxing like yoga and meditation. Both are known to help reduce stress and make your life a little easier. Also, make sure to give yourself some “me time.” Finals are normally the time of go, go, go, but to do well you also need to make sure you make some time for yourself.

5. Keep the end in mind

Try to remember that you have made it this far and not to give up yet. The end of the school year is almost here and keeping that in mind can help these last weeks remain manageable.

Following these five steps can help your last weeks of school remain less stressful and more productive. Other things that might help you stay more motivated are: naps, nature walks, coffee and candy. These little things can give you the time you need to clear mind and then get back to work. While your state of mind is the most important thing in these last few weeks, having other help from sweets can make the end of the year even better.
