In middle school, we got handed a computer to do our work but we were given no other options. Has anyone ever thought about using something different instead, maybe like a tablet?
There’s a few differences between handling a tablet and handling a computer. But for starters, a computer might just be more handier and more convenient in some ways that a Chromebook isn’t. For instance, It’s smaller and you can write on it and it’s even sometimes easeir to work with. But with a computer, it’s a little bit bigger and but you can’t write on it, and it’s not so easy to work with.
“I would rather have a tablet because I think it’s easier to carry around and you can find easier ways to study,” Allie Vining (11) said.
I totally agree. Tablets are definitely better than computers, they’re easy to travel with and easier and better to work with.
“A computer 100% because it’s so much easier to use when it comes to creating projects or having multiple assignments. I like to have all my work on separate tabs to keep all of my work organized,” Rylee Haines (11) said.
Approximately 94% of schools use tablets. So I wouldn’t be surprised if we switched to tablets as well.
According to Kajeet.com, only 31% of public schools use Google Chromebooks. They also point out that only 78% use smart boards for education.
“Using a tablet would be a struggle, I also feel like when it comes to writing essays or anything lengthy, a tablet would not be the fastest or more efficient thing to use,” Haines said.
Chromebooks have more powerful processors, which can handle more demanding software applications and better with multitasking it can have its challenges. On the other hand, tablets are lightweight, better for interactive learning apps, have a longer battery life and it is cheaper than Chromebooks.
Both devices can be valuable in a school atmosphere, but the choice depends on the specific needs and preferences of the students.
