Mr. Beast posted a video titled “planting 20,000,000 Trees, My Biggest Project Ever!” on Oct. 26 celebrating 20 million subscribers. Soon after that video was posted, Lizzie, from the popular gaming youtube channel LDShadowLady, posted a video expressing her support for Mr. Beast and encouraged her fans to go donate.

But she’s not the only other YouTuber helping to support Mr. Beast. In his video, Mr. Beast, also known as Jimmy, collabs with Mark Rover to help spend awareness for what he’s doing and encourages his subscribers to go watch Mark’s video when his was over. 

In Jimmy’s video, he and his team spent the day planting trees, but they knew they couldn’t accomplish the feat on their own. So Jimmy sent out a tweet recruiting people to spend the day planting trees and it worked with a lot of people showing up. In the two days, they planted 1,700 trees. But even then that wasn’t enough to reach the goal of 20 million trees.

So that’s where we come in. Mr. Beast teamed up with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant 20 million trees. He created his own website called Team Trees.org where you can go to donate. For every $1 donated, one tree will be planted. The goal to reach is 20 million and it ends Jan. 1, 2020.

When Liberty freshman Alicia Finn was asked how she felt about what Mr. Beast was doing, she said: “It’s pretty cool that he’s planting trees, the Earth really needs it after all the crap we’re doing to it.” And other people feel the same way. 

But why should I donate? Well, that is explained by Mark Rover. In a part of Marks’ video, he explains why trees are important to the earth and humans, “…The answer as it turns out is that the mass comes from thin air. The clue is if you look at what the bulk of the tree is actually made of, it’s almost entirely carbon. Pretend I’m a tree. Basically, a tree sees a carbon dioxide molecule floating by and it powers up with energy from the sun using photosynthesis. It uses that energy to rip the carbon from the oxygen and it takes that carbon and slaps it onto itself to get more swole. And the trees like hey humans here some beautiful fresh Oxygene you can have back.”
