Poppy’s unique alternative, the new metal style has intrigued old and new fans. Shes just released a new album and made a stop in St. Louis on her recent tour. 

“I Disagree” is the singer’s third album, with 10 tracks. It is very different from her last two albums and much darker. The songs on this album are beautifully crafted in my opinion. They go from a softer sounding tune to a transition of heavy metal. When I first heard the album when it came out on Jan. 10, I only had a liking for a few songs, but as I listened to it more I fell in love with her new unique style and sound. I was so used to how her old albums sounded that it took a bit to get used to her heavier style. 

Poppy performed at the Delmar Hall on Feb. 15 and the doors opened up at 7 p.m. There was a $2 surcharge for minors and pretty good security. The venue wasn’t filled up much so my friends and I got really good spots. The stage was at least six feet away from us. At 8 p.m., the opening band VOWWS came on stage. Their music of the death pop genre and dark sounding songs was performed amazingly in my opinion. VOWWS played for around 45 minutes. Then around 9:20 Poppy came out on stage. She started the concert off with her song “Concrete.” She sang a couple of songs from her last album called “Am I a Girl?” And the rest were from “I Disagree.” 

Poppy and her band’s stage performance was really good and enjoyable to watch. The lighting would go with the mood of the songs and you could feel all the exciting energy in the room. The vibe of the whole show was energetic and fun. This concert was probably the best one I have been too. Our view was amazing and my friend even got the setlist.  The overall experience of the concert and her album for me was a 10/10. I loved every second of it.
