Justin Bieber’s Comeback
Bieber releases new album ‘Changes’
February 21, 2020
Justin Bieber’s new album “Changes” came out on Valentine’s Day last Friday. This album has been highly anticipated with it being Bieber’s first album in four years. These past four years have been a learning experience for Bieber. He has since opened up about his mental health, drug use and physical health.
Bieber has opened up with his struggles with anxiety and how performing at such a young age has taken a toll on his mental health, in Bieber’s new documentary series ‘Seasons’ he goes into more detail about his struggles with drug use, even saying “My security… were coming into the room at night to check my pulse,” this was when his drug use progressed to using pills when he was entering his 20’s, he is now working to keep sober.
Bieber also discusses his recent diagnosis of Lyme disease and how it has affected his life. He revealed his struggle with Lyme disease on Instagram after being photographed coming out of the doctors several times.
You could say that Bieber’s new album ‘Changes’ is almost a revival of his well being and career. This new album has said to represent Bieber’s growth since his days as a child star, although he still has a lot to learn.
The album itself is good but many were expecting a “wow” moment that I feel like never came. The songs were very repetitive and it seemed as though every song was alike. Many of the songs had a similar tempo and lyrics. The songs were set up the same way and I found myself getting confused as to which song I was listening to because they all sounded so similar. There were a few clever lyrics here and there but the whole album felt a little watered down in my opinion.
There were good songs on the album but the repetition of the way these songs were composed made you tired of the same sound.
Bieber collaborated with Quavo, Post Malone, Clever, Lil Dicky, Travis Scott, and Kehlani in this album. Bieber recorded “Changes” with his writing partner Poo Bear and his producer Josh Gudwin. There are a total of 17 songs on the album, many of them referencing his wife Hailey Baldwin.
Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin got married on September 13, 2018, and Bieber made many references to her in this album. For example, in his song ‘Habitual’ he wrote “ My love for you is habitual, Not for a moment, but for forever” and in Forever ft. Post Malone and Clever “Could you be here with me forever.”
In my opinion, Bieber’s album ‘Changes’ is more about representing his growth as a person and how he plans to continue to grow than the actual music. I am excited about what Bieber has planned for the future and think he has become a great role model for generations to come, showing that you can come back and reinvent yourself for the better.
