For the first time in two years, our student council brought together our student body to celebrate this year’s casino themed Homecoming. Due to Covid-19, the last homecoming pep assembly was back in fall of 2020.

I think the assembly went so good. I am so happy with how everything turned out and I think the school loved it too,” stated senior Alexis Shuster.

To kick off the assembly, seniors Aiden Berry and Rynell Ipema introduce Liberty’s “Tik Tok Famous” choir to sing the National Anthem.

Following Berry’s Elvis impression, the spirit king, senior Drake Polite, and queen, sophomore Lilly Brown, were given their sashes and front row seats to the rest of the event.

Continuing after the spirit king and queen announcement, was the lip sync battle between six of our beloved teachers. The battle started with our cooking master, Ms. Pizzo, singing “Ghost Story” by Carrie Underwood. Then, Ms. Dupske and Ms. Kruse took the stage and performed “Waking Up In Vegas” by Katy Perry. Next, Ms. Kleiber recruited seniors Grace Page and Vianca Malave to continue the competition by singing “Poker Face” by Lady Gaga. Succeeded their performance was Ms. T.O. slayed “We Are Family” by Sister Sledge. Concluding the show, Ms. Strathman performed and took the win with “All I Do Is Win” by DJ Khalid. Following her win Strathman expressed “I was shocked, because the other performers were really good, but it was a really fun experience.”

The JV and Varsity Belles showed their routine to the crowd to get them hyped for the announcement of the Homecoming Court.

The homecoming courts were announced after the Belles performance. Freshman homecoming court nominees were Hailey Smith and Caiden Galati. Announced next was the sophomore court, Kylee Bobbitt and Cody McMullen. Following the Sophomore court, was the junior court, Mia Knobbe and Marquis Williams. Lastly, was the senior Court that included Maryn Weber, Abby Witzke, Alexis Shuster, Ethan Weiler, Alix Queen, and Anthony Bergmann.

All of cheer performed to bring the energy up for the announcement that our Drama club won the chalk art competition, and the class of 2023 won the hallway decoration competition. Closely after that, a Family Feud-style game between our football coaches and players, ended with the players winning just five points ahead of the coaches.

As the assembly came to an end, senior boys and the dance team presented a dance for the “Belles and Bros.” According to Jayce Haun, “We only had about three or four practices, and I feel like there should have been more but I think we did pretty good.”

In the end, the assembly was a successful way to get the student body even more excited for Homecoming.
