One of the parts about Liberty that many students love are the teachers, and this month’s teacher of the month is Mr. Barker, who teaches AP Psychology and Sociology.

When asked why he was named teacher of the month, he says, “I assume a clerical error. Kidding aside, I understand it was by student vote, which I take as a great honor.”

Being elected by the students, Barker says that his absolute favorite thing about teaching is “the students. They make it fun.” He also says that he did not always want to be a teacher, but now he says that it is the most fun job he can imagine.

What are his favorite things about the school?

Oh man, there are so many things. I love the atmosphere. I love the people I work with and work for. It’s a team effort here, and that makes the work load light when many hands are helping. The students here are outstanding. They are outstanding academically, socially, intellectually, and morally. It makes them interesting and fun.”

A few quick facts about Barker are that in the little free time he has as a teacher, he likes to build things, and to travel. His favorite food is pasta, and he says that nothing else is even close. When he was in school, his favorite subject was “Recess. Well, that and lunch.”

It’s easy to see why Mr. Barker is the teacher of the month.
