Endings are never easy, and for these two seniors it’s especially hard.
Katelynn Larson and Sophie Chenot have both been on the girls’ golf team since freshman year. And in those four years of playing, they have both accomplished so much.
On Sept. 26, the golf team had a match against Francis Howell Central at Golf Club of Wentzville. This match was also on the night to represent both Chenot and Larson for their dedication.
All teammates, families, friends, and coaches stayed after the match to gather together and support these seniors. Chenot’s parents and grandparents had come to support her for accomplishing so much all these years. And Katelynn’s parents and two younger brothers came with so much love and joy towards all her successes.
Senior Sophie Chenot was inspired at a young age to start golfing.
Her dad, and her biggest supporter, motivated Sophie to start golfing. She fell in love with her sport, golf, and needless to say, she has no regrets. In her sophomore year, Chenot made it to state for the first time. She loved going to state and being able to represent her team.
Chenot loves making memories with her teammates and she is thankful for the friendships she has made the past four years of her career. “I will miss the competition, playing at matches, and tournaments. And having fun with my teammates at practice everyday.” Chenot said.
With all the memories Chenot has made, it is hard to let go. But she has bigger plans ahead of her. When Chenot graduates, she wants to attend the University Of Arkansas, and study developmental psychology. She plans to further pursue a career as a child psychologist.
Senior Katelynn Larson will miss going being able to use golf as a way to decompress after a long school day.
“Golfing can be a great stress reliever,” Larson said.
Larson’s favorite memory from the team was getting to have fun with them everyday and creating their own jokes and memories. Even with making many memories with her teammates, she also makes them with her opponents.
When being with the opposing team the entire match, you get to bond with them and have light-hearted conversations while playing, even if you’re versing them. Larson said she likes “meeting new people from other schools.” During most athletes’ accomplishments, they have their biggest supporters with them.
“My parents are my biggest supporters. They have been to countless matches and have always helped keep up my positive morals,” Larson said.
Larson has big plans for the future after high school like many others. When she graduates, she wants to go to Lindenwood University and Logan University to study chiropractic care.
These dedicated seniors have put in hard work, effort, support, and especially time into these last four years and best of luck to the amazing future ahead of you.
