Many people want to experience the “perfect high school” experience and everyone might find that in different ways. Liberty gives students a variety of clubs to participate in and try out in which they can meet people and find things that interest them.
A day in which all of the clubs come together is yearbook photo day, which took place in the big gym on Wednesday, Dec. 6. There were 42 clubs that participated with the yearbook staff organizing the event and Trotter Photo taking the group pictures.
Natalie Page is in GSA, which was one of the many groups that were photographed. Page joined GSA after she saw a poster promoting the club. “You get to meet a lot of people with the same interest as you and it’s fun to relate.” Page said.
Clubs that were featured on picture day were as large as 120 and as small as four. Each club is centered on its own thing, from health, to a new language, it’s a variety of things you can do.
Sophomore Micki Morris started theater in their eighth grade year after they came to Liberty and watched “Mamma Mia!” back in March 2022. They are now a member of the drama club and have been in multiple productions with Liberty and outside of school.
“It feels like a family there,” Morris said about drama club. “Everyone’s welcome…not typically a place where you feel unwelcome or want to leave.”
Senior Emma Nolan Link is a part of the link crew. “I joined because I wanted something to look good for college. We do service projects and we helped with freshman orientation.” Nolan said.
Senior Alyse Gorman is a member of the business organization DECA. “I just joined this year, but I just love the business atmosphere and I’m honestly excited for competing and hopefully making it to nationals,” she said.
Some students are in multiple clubs like junior Divya Kollipara. “I’m in art club, garden club and also FCCLA,” Kollipara said. “It’s fun to be in clubs especially for field trips. It’s fun to get involved with school, and also you can be in the yearbook. I’m also planning on doing winter guard and fall guard.”
In the end, about 42 clubs that are at Liberty were able to get done with pictures by the end of second block in a fast and efficient way.
