Gypsy Rose is finally being released. After eight years in prison, she’s finally out. Do you think she should be released?

We all know who Gypsy Rose Blanchard is. She was sentenced to 10 years of prison in 2016 after murdering her mother. Several documentaries and a popular Hulu miniseries “The Act” were made about her life and have made the case well known.

After serving eight years in prison, Gypsy was released on Dec. 28, 2023 and she is now 32 years old.

There are many supporters of Gypsy Rose, saying she was abused and manipulated and just wanted to be free and away from the hands of her mother.

To talk a little bit about Gypsy’s past, she is originally from Louisiana and was living in Springfield, Mo. in 2015 when she met this guy Nicholas Godejohn on a Christian dating site. The two quickly connected after she told him about the abuse she went through from her mother, Dee Dee.

Soon after they were together, she conspired with Nick to get away from Dee Dee and have freedom. Nick ended up killing Dee Dee in June 2015, while Gypsy was in the other room hiding.

A lot of people didn’t know that Dee Dee told people that Gypsy Rose had an unspecified chromosomal disorder and other various different health issues. She forced her to use a wheelchair and use a feeding tube. Many people believe Gypsy suffered from Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy, which is a mental illness and which a parent either makes up fake symptoms or causes real symptoms to make it look like the child is sick.

Nicholas Godejohn, Gypsy’s boyfriend, is serving a lifetime in prison without the possibility of parole. After this terrible event, Gypsy and Nick have no communication with each other, and Nick says that he feels deserted by Gypsy.

Following her release from prison, Gypsy announced she wrote a book “Released: Conversations on The Eve of Freedom” and appeared on social media platforms and TV interviews.

Allie Vining, a sophomore, explains, “I think she should go back to prison, for sure. The Twitter comments are crazy.”

Going back to the original question, how do you feel about Gypsy Rose being released from prison on Dec. 28, 2023?

Do you agree with Gypsy Rose being released from prison?
