This past month and a half, freshman Ryan Dobratz has not only been catching baseballs, but catching the eyes of varsity coaches and professional showcase programs such as PBR (Prep Baseball Report).
Currently, on PBR, he is ranked the 8th best baseball player in the state of Missouri. He also gets invited to showcases, such as the baseball recruiting company Perfect Game. This means that he is getting invited to a baseball field with a select number of other kids, getting to show off what you can do on the diamond. At these showcases, there are College, Minor League, and sometimes Major League scouts, looking for young prospects that could have the potential to play very elite level baseball after high school.
Playing on the No. 1 team in Missouri is also bound to have you looked at. Three kids on his team are ranked 10 or above in the state of Missouri. His team is called, “Legacy.” This is the team that he will play for once high school ball is over. They have also acquired some new players this offseason that are going to further improve their chances of winning. Players including Cole Chambers, currently the No. 1 ranked player in the state of Missouri, Max Partney, the No. 5 ranked player in Missouri, and of course, Ryan himself.
“High school ball is fun and all, but my club team is so good, it will be something special,” Dobratz said reviewing his stat line his past couple games.
It’s no accident that the freshman is ranked No. 8 in the state of Missouri. He features a fastball that hums up to as high as 87 miles per hour. Those are major league type numbers. As he’s proven so far, the foreseeable future for Ryan Dobratz is very bright.
“He (Dobratz) is probably one of the best players and people I’ve ever been around,” teammate Hayden Schwab said.
