The Saint Louis Music Park in Maryland Heights was blaring with excitement from singer Benson Boone fans on Thursday, Sep. 26. That night broke the record for the most people to ever attend the Saint Louis Music Park.
People lined up outside the venue with items of entertainment more than 12 hours before the event started. Doors opened at 6:30 p.m. and the opener would plan to come on at 8 p.m.
The venue buzzed with excitement as the lights dimmed and opener Daniel Seavey walked out on the stage looking out to thousands of fans with a big smile on his face.
He sang some of his top songs “Fall Into You”, “Other People”, “The Older You Get”, and “Can We Pretend That We’re Good?” along with others until 9 p.m .
At 9:30 p.m., the moment everyone in the venue had been waiting for, fans were ready to scream for the man of the night, Benson Boone, to come onto the stage. The second his foot stepped into sight, the screams immediately erupted.
Boone started singing his introduction song “Intro” while playing the piano for the opening of his tour at the Saint Louis Music Park venue in Maryland Heights.
A hit of the night was his popular and heartbreaking song “In The Stars” as he shared the story behind the song. Boone’s grandmother had passed away at 97 years old and he had decided to honor her memory by singing moments from their time spent together and how he feels after her passing.
“’In the Stars’” is one of my favorite songs except for “Hello Love.” When he talked about how beautiful life is and how death was a part of it made me tear up. Benson has a way with words and he used it beautifully when he addressed the crowd,” Lilly Brown (12) said.
Sophie Hegyi (12) also went to the concert and had an amazing time. Hegyi’s favorite song played was “Pretty Slowly” because of how dynamic it was and the powerfulness of the song. “I really connect with some of the lyrics,” Hegyi said.
In between the playing of his setlist, Boone talked to the crowd with his personal experiences and was genuine with his words.
“It just really kept the vibes positive, and you got to see his personality shine through,” Hegyi said.
