On Oct. 17, in the Eagle’s 8th game against Fort Zumwalt South, Jaylen Mack (11) broke Liberty football’s record of number of touchdowns scored in a single game by one player. Mack rushed for six touchdowns in the game, breaking the previous record of five. He rushed for an impressive 204 yards on 22 carries (8.5 yards per carry) in Liberty’s 56-28 victory over Zumwalt South.
“It felt good (to break the record). Everybody on the team came to congratulate me,” Mack said.
Mack also commented on how it was more of a team effort to break the record that night.
“It feels amazing, but it’s not just me. It’s also all of the big guys up front doing their job,” Mack said.
Mack described the moment when he realized that he could break the record.
“Coming back from my fourth touchdown, I had a bunch of coaches come up to me and say ‘You’re two away from the record,’ so I just pushed to get that and I got it,” Mack said.
Jaylen Mack’s record was a feat that no Liberty student has ever achieved.
