Eagles Soar Over Indians in Final Regular Season Contest

Eagles dominate the Indians 35-7 in final game before districts
Categories:

The Eagles are now 6-3 heading into the district playoffs after putting on a display of dominance over the Holt Indians with a 35-7 victory Friday night.

Coming off a school record six touchdowns a week earlier, running back Jaylen Mack (11) had another sensational game. He rushed for 312 yards on 22 carries to lead the way for the Eagles.

The game started relatively slow with Holt punting away their first drive, and Liberty scoring on their second drive to put them ahead to an early 6-0 lead. And Liberty would remain uncontested, scoring again to put them up 14-0 after a successful two-point conversion. Mack scored both touchdowns so far in the game.

Mack would go on to score two more TDs, one just before half and one in the third quarter before James Alexander (11) would score Liberty’s fifth touchdown of the game putting them up 35-0. Liberty would give up one touchdown in this game with 9:51 left in the fourth quarter when Holt would score their single touchdown.

Individually, a couple of players truly stood out above the rest last night.  Mack rushed for 4 touchdowns and 312 yards on the ground. He’s truly become one of the top running backs in the district. Caleb Orcutt (10) had 52 receiving yards and 5 catches which led the team.

What is exciting about this game is that in the district Liberty is now second, overtaking Fort Zumwalt West who lost to Hannibal last night in a non-district contest. Meaning Liberty is currently set to host the 0-9 Francis Howell North Knights this coming Friday night in the first round of districts.

Liberty was also the best out of all of the Wentzville teams this year beating out Holt, North Point, and Timberland. This is the first time the Eagles have defeated Holt since 2019 when we are 2-6 against them. We are 3-0 against North Point, beating them every year since they became a team. And finally we are 3-6 against Timberland and we are  2-0 in the last two years.

“It’s the first time Liberty’s done it, and it’s a huge accomplishment with how competitive we all are,” linebacker Jack Ryan (12) had to say about Liberty being the best Wentzville school.
