The Second Annual Lucy Strong Charity Run 5k was held again on Nov. 16 at 8:30 a.m. at the front of the school by Lucy Lant (12).
The route went around the school onto the bridge and down to Paul Renaud Blvd. and back.
Before the race had started, Sullivan Thornton (11) asked everyone to bow their heads and join him in a time of prayer.
In the 5k race, Nate Wietbrock (11) was the first place male with a time of 18.38 and for female was Kailynn Burton (9) with a time of 23.15. Both runners got first place medals along with their participation medal.
“I would do it (the race) again without a doubt,” Burton said. “It is a good cause to support, plus it was very fun to talk and run.”
Following the race, FCA handed out pancakes for participants and family there.
Once everyone had received pancakes from FCA and coffee sponsored from PJ’s Coffee, they all gathered together for a touching speech given from Lant.
“I don’t know what will happen to the race next year as i am a senior and will be in college next year but i am going to figure out a plan to keep it going,” Lant said
Next they started the raffle of items from Liberty, Boulevard Bride, Twisted Sugar, Regional Eyecare, Club Pilates, YMCA, Village Cafe, Frontier Integrated Health Center.
After the raffle, all kids participating in the Kids Fun Run lined up at the start. The route was one lap around the school.
The event raised $12,000 and the Lant family reminisced over another successful race.
