Dream Boxes
NHS sponsors school supply drive
December 18, 2017
Senior Julia Wolz and junior Carson Brown of the National Honors Society (NHS) had an idea to have a school supply drive for underprivileged kids in our area. They had a total of 100 boxes filled with supplies, making-and going way past their goal of 60 boxes.
They are going to send the supply filled boxes to Prairie View Elementary so they can be distributed to whoever needs them.
This supply drive was sponsored by NHS, though the idea and the organization of the drive was student driven.
“We just want to give back to the community, especially around here,” Brown said.
The mindset for this project was that they would ask for shoe boxes, markers, crayons, paper, etc. And they would split the supplies between 2nd hours so that only one class would be focused on specific items.
“Before we go the boxes I was really nervous, I didn’t think we were going to get that many, but when we were filling the boxes up I was just really happy,” Wolz said.
