What sport did you play in high school: Football, Baseball, Basketball, and one year of Track.

Why did you start coaching this sport: I love baseball and when you get old you can’t play anymore so you gotta coach it.

Favorite thing about coaching: Seeing the kids get better, watching them progress.

What would you say to anyone interested in trying out?:  Come on out see how good you are and hopefully you can make the team. If you do make the team, I hope you can help make us get better. The ultimate goal is obviously winning state. We have not attained that goal yet, but we’ve had some pretty good teams, some pretty good shots. So we’ll see how this year goes. One thing at a time…conference champions, district champions, state champions. That’s our aspirations. They’re a little lofty, but I know we have some good players.

What sport did you play in high school: Soccer and Volleyball.

Why did you start coaching this sport: I knew from a young age that I wanted to do this. I loved the sport. I was a very athletic kid so sports was where I made my friends, where I had fun. That’s where I spent most of my time so I was very passionate about it. It felt natural and as a very competitive person to compete as an adult is a fun thing.

Favorite thing about coaching: Watching the girls grow from freshman year to their senior year and them getting confidence on and off the field, to go from young timid freshman to kind of fierce leaders as seniors.

What would you say to anyone interested in trying out: We always point out to our teams that we are looking for the positive. We’re looking for the things you do well. We’re not very worried about what you do wrong. Kids will come to tryouts super nervous and we’re really looking for your strengths, not your weaknesses, so we can help you excel which will help the whole team excel.

What sport did you play in high school: Tennis, Soccer, and Football.

Why did you start coaching this sport: It came out when I first applied here. They needed an assistant coach for tennis and so I tried it out.

Favorite thing about coaching: Watching the kids grow. Usually when you get them from freshman year, then seeing them go all the way until their senior year, how much they have grown, not only skill wise but their general personality.

What would you say to anyone interested in trying out: Come and try out. Usually in tennis we get a lot of good kids who we get along with and if you’re looking for anything activity wise and getting your physical strength up, this is one of the sports you can try.

What sport did you play in high school: Football, Basketball, Cross country, and Track.

Why did you start coaching this sport: The people who impacted me the most in my life were my high school coaches and I always wanted to do what they did and impact young people.

Favorite thing about coaching: Watching students grow as athletes and people, relationships with coaches as well as teaching how to work hard.

What would you say to anyone interested in trying out: I would say try it. Everyone can do it and it’s a great opportunity to be part of a team. We don’t cut people so you don’t have to worry about making it. We have people of all abilities and we value all of them so they should definitely try it.

Jacob Cole – JV Boys Golf Coach

What sport did you play in high school: Football and Baseball.

Why did you start coaching this sport: Originally they needed someone to take JV somewhere because they didn’t have any JV coaches here. Coach Eldredge knew I liked golf and asked if I wanted to coach. That’s how I began being around the golf program and after working with them for a couple of years just kind of came about.

Favorite thing about coaching: Watch people grow and develop and achieve goals.

What would you say to anyone interested in trying out: Go for it. Golf is a fantastic sport because it’s a lifelong sport. It is one of the few things on this planet that you can actually go out and compete against your grandmother and your 10-year-old sister.
