Have you ever gotten sick, or had a bad injury that made you stay home from school? What about a certain subject that you’ve taken and failed because you weren’t good at it? These problems can cause us to fail a certain subject, or even drop out of it.
Students must have 25 credits needed to graduate high school. Is that a lot? Or not enough? We have 4 years, 7 credits each year, to get to 25. Now you may be thinking, well that’s easy, 4 years times 7 credits each year is 28 credits and that is more than what we need to graduate, but it’s not that simple.
Sometimes we get unlucky and go through things that we don’t want to. This could be a majority of things, like getting sick, getting injured, or something happening within your family. And in these moments, school isn’t the most important thing, so we skip. When people skip school, the odds of them doing the work that they missed are very low. This can cause students to get behind or get bad grades.
That’s why it is important to always think about summer school.
All credit advancement courses will be virtual this summer, and students can enroll in an entire virtual option or an e-learning credit recovery with an e-learning teacher for support. Principals will be running this program for each school. Some classes that are often taken are P.E and Health for not only freshmen, so they can get ahead of their credits. Information for summer school can be found here.
People often like to take elective classes as well like art so they don’t have to take them during the actual school year.
“I chose to take summer school to get ahead of my classes to make my senior year as easy as possible,” Morgan Murphy (11) said. “Summer school was 16 days instead of taking a whole semester class so it was done faster and done early.”
People go to summer school for a multitude of reasons. Maybe they failed a class, maybe they are trying to get a credit that they need to graduate, whatever it is, it works.
Within a couple of weeks of doing a class over the summer, you can finish half a credit that would take you 5 months to have during the school year. So why wouldn’t you do it?
