Star-Barks Madness Reveals Liberty’s Cutest Dog

Did you vote in the Star-Barks Madness bracket?

In case you didn’t know, special education teacher, Abbie Bollwerk’s classes set up a bracket in the cafeteria where students could vote for who they thought was the cutest dog. All of the dogs featured were teachers’ dogs.

The bracket was made through her students’ dog treat business, Star-Barks.

“I was looking for another way to involve our classes’ dog treat business with the staff and students here at Liberty,” Bollwerk said. “I thought the bracket would be a fun way to get everyone involved because who doesn’t love looking at dogs.”

The full bracket featured 32 different dogs submitted by various teachers.

On average, each round had 65-85 students vote.

“We are looking at ways to get more students involved next year,” Bollwerk said.

Logan Coleman (11), voted in the bracket last week.

“I voted for Hudson because I didn’t feel like voting for the puppies that I thought everyone would pick just because they were cute. I wanted to give a older dog my support,” Coleman said.

Coleman seemed to have the right idea, as Hudson won the bracket.

Hudson just so happens to be Bollwerk’s dog.

“Many teachers are joking around that it’s a conspiracy, but I promise I didn’t count the votes,” Bollwerk said.

Whether you voted or not, Bollwerk and her class hope you participate next year.
