Earth Club is hosting exciting opportunities for students to donate clothes, earn second-hand items, and learn how to mend their garments from April 21-25. Here’s how you can get involved, and help save your planet.

The thrift swap will take place outside of the large gym, April 21-25 during all of lunch. Students will be able to exchange an article of clothing, or pay $1 for one ticket. This ticket can then be traded for a clothing item of the student’s choice.
This is a great way for students who have outgrown some of their clothing to give it a new home, and find some new items for themselves. Choosing second hand over new clothing will help to reduce to amount of waste you produce, and minimize the negative impact you may have on the environment.
The mending workshop will be in the library April 21-23 during lunch. Students will have the time to learn to sew a button, mend a hole, attach straps, and darn a sock with Earth Club volunteers.
Those who wish to participate should bring the items they wish to mend, and enter the library at any point throughout power lunch during the aforementioned dates.
Students hoping to expand their sewing skills and thrifting ability are encouraged to attend. Learning to mend clothing will help to improve the longevity of your wardrobe and, like thrifting, has the ability to limit the amount of clothing waste you produce.
“Earth Club is really excited about this Thrift Swap,” President Elect Leah Dudley (11) said. “We’ve never done a project like this before, and we’re hoping to make a valuable contribution to our school’s culture, as well as reduce our impact on the planet.”
Make sure you don’t miss out on these events, and help save your planet by adopting new and renewable shopping habits.
