Tate McRae’s latest album “So Close to What” dropped on Feb. 21 and on that day earned 31.8 million streams. In total, Tate McRae now has more than 11 billion streams, collectively throughout her whole career. However, her last album, “Think Later” had the number one song of 2024 with “Greedy” but despite all that this is her first to debut as number one on the Billboard 200 charts and streamed significantly more than her past albums. Fans took this victory short as on April 15 Tate McRae teased new merch but with a familiar twist onto it.
Her signature ‘T8’ hockey jersey was orange and white but with a ‘MW’ button at the top of the collar. This made fans wonder if she was indeed collabing with Morgan Wallen. Morgan Wallen had released the official tracklist for his new album, “I’m The Problem,” confirming the collaboration with Tate McRae and other artists such as Post Malone, Hardy, Eric Church, and Ernest.
“They are both talented singers and I can’t wait to see how they will sound together,” Camdyn Farrell (9) said.
Izzy Moss (9) added, “Both are very talented but I’m worried how they will sound together.”
Morgan Wallen had gotten onto the Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums with his album, “One Thing At a Time.” Although the audience may have loved his music, they weren’t sure about his actions. Morgan Wallen had gotten intoxicated one night and threw a chair off a bar roof, that could’ve very well hurt someone. Along with his musical guest special on SNL, Wallen had walked off the stage and mid-episode. He received a lot of backlash from his actions, but the real question is if he should receive backlash for his art?
As Morgan Wallen’s first ever collaboration with a female, this drew many eyes to the topic. Wallen addressed Billboard saying he would like to collaborate and write more with women, but many artists have turned him down when he’s reached out and asked.
On the other hand, Tate McRae hasn’t addressed the subject personally nor has her team. Tate McRae’s fans however believed she confirmed the collaboration with her original Instagram story post of the orange and white ‘T8’ and ‘MW’ jersey.
