The “Alysa Liu Mindset” has appeared all over social media, from Tiktok to Instagram, people are talking about it? Well, what is it?
The “Alysa Liu Mindset” refers to the thought of not attaching yourself to the results of anything you are doing, and being unapologetically yourself. That is only when you truly, both as a person and maybe even an athlete, reach your potential to the max.
When Alysa first stepped into the spotlight, she was only 13. She was a US champion at women’s figure skating. Alysa was a prodigy, but she decided to make a move that shocked the world. At 16, she decided to step away from the spotlight, and when we ask ourselves why she would do that, it’s because she prioritized leading a normal life compared to one that was constantly criticized or looked at. At such a young age, she reached such a mental fortitude that she stepped away from something she really loved.
Unexpectedly, she came back, and this time viewers of this sport noticed something that was not abnormal, but rather enchantingly eccentric. In a sport with such high buns, and even higher tensions, she presented something so starkly different. She performed with fluidity, and ease, almost as if she had no care in the world. She was performing, to perform, not just to compete. She was being herself. That beautiful and inspiring comeback made her the 2022 World Champion of Women’s Figure Skating.
This chain of events led her to competing in this year’s 2026 Winter Olympics in Milana Cortina. Here she not only proved herself once again, but she did it in her own unique way. One thing that she sais during one of her interviews was that “I think mistakes are beautiful too,” she said in a Today interview. She embraces the good and bad, which is needed in our modern world, especially when the internet often criticizes any and all form of self-expression. Her mindset, embraces all outcomes and welcomes them, pushes her to be herself above all criticism, and most of all, do what you love doing, and don’t let anyone pull you down.
