Eagles defeat Fulton to take their second-consecutive district title
March 4, 2018
A day short from a full year since winning their first district championship, Liberty won their second going, back-to-back after beating Fulton 65-51 Friday night in Hannibal.
The mindset to get back to the district game has been there since the start of the season and they did it winning by 14 against Fulton. The Eagles had the lead over Fulton almost the entire game as Jaylen Sims put on a show scoring a season-high 22 points.
The team is working with great chemistry as they continue to step up game by game with each player playing their role and doing all they can to win.
The Eagles came up short from winning the GAC Conference losing to Zumwalt South, but that did not stop them from winning the district title.
They defeated Warrenton 62-57 on Tuesday to reach the district championship.
The Eagles improve their overall record to 20-8 with a district title victory. They now go on to face Jennings High School on Tuesday at 7:45 p.m. in sectional play at Francis Howell Central to start off round 1 of the state championship tournament. Jennings topped McCluer 67-60 to advance to play Liberty.
