Leads of ‘Little Women’
The musical will be located at Liberty is the auditorium, March 15,16, and 17 at seven o’clock
Everyone works hard in this musical, or any theatrical production. The following people are just a few of the hard working actors/actresses in the spring musical “Little Women.”
The show runs from March 15-17 at the Liberty Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $6 for adults and $5 for students.
Freshman Michelle Yoder plays as Beth March in the musical “Little Women.” Beth is one of the four sisters and is very sweet and shy. Yoder sometimes shares these characteristic, which helps her relate to her character. Yoder really likes her character and wouldn’t wish for another. In the musical, Beth has very pretty songs and plays the piano. “One of my favorite quotes that Beth says is when she’s talking to Mr. Laurence, and he asks ‘Which one of he dreadful March girls are you?’ and Beth’s responds with ‘I’m Dreadful Beth,’” Yoder said. She can’t wait for the musical to began and for everyone to see how hard the members have worked.
Laurie from the musical, “Little Women” is played by sophomore Wesley Nichols. Laurie is the grandson of Mr. Laurence, a very grumpy old man who lives close to the March girls. Laurie is a very witty guy and he loves Jo March (played by Julia Wolz). “We both have some kind of objective to fulfill a part of our lives, that we haven’t reached yet,” Nichols said, explaining how he relates to his character. Nichols likes the role that he was assigned and couldn’t have wished for another. Nichols is really excited for the play and can’t wait for everyone to see his favorite scene, the ballroom scene where everyone is dancing and having fun all together.
Jo March is played Julia Wolz for this years musical “Little Women.” Jo is the lead of the musical and is very headstrong character. Jo is a tomboy which is odd for a women in the time period, because the musical is based in the civil war era. Jo is very ambitious which is one of Wolz’s favorite traits about her, but it does get her in trouble sometimes. Since Jo is very ambitious, she doesn’t think before she acts. If she wants to do something, she will do it without hesitation. Wolz loves all of her scenes, but mostly her scene with Aunt March, because Aunt March (played by Abby Hankins) and Jo have very different views on how a lady should act and it’s funny.
Professor Bhaer is played by Cameron Jones, in “Little Women” the musical. Professor Bhaer is a very cranky old man but he has a sweet spot for different people and topic. Something unique about this character is that he is German, and Jones has to do a German accent for his character. Even though it’s unique that Jones’s character has a German accent, it can be tricky at times to do a German accent at times. Jones’s favorite scene out of the entire show would be the last scene, but I won’t say what that scene is. To figure out what Jones’s favorite scene is and how the musical ends come the the show on March 15, 16, and 17 at 7 p.m.
