Key Club members attend D-CON.

Key Club attended their District Leadership Conference (D-CON) in Springfield, Mo. on March 8-10. Students participated in leadership training, service forums and participated in the MO-ARK all club Service Project, which provided over 160 blankets and a donation over $1,000 to the Linus Project to provide comfort blankets to children in need.

Key Club took second place in the Gold level for their Single Service Project: Talent Show/Baby Peggs Fundraiser.

Key Club is based on service, so the seminars helped them learn how to further better their club and community.

Conference Highlights:

  • Jana Bowman was recognized as Liberty’s member of the year for her dedication and leadership in preparing the Holiday Parade Float, Talent Show organization and overall positive enthusiasm for club service.

Bowman is a senior and it is her first year being apart of Key Club. She thinks her being awarded Key Club member of the year proves “you can hop in whenever and still be able to pull through.”

  • Maya Schnabel won second place in the oratory contest.
  • Mikayla Bowman performed American Sign Language to music as the opening act of the Talent Show.
  • Aminhan Lobster was appointed to Division 5 as Lt. Governor which means she will represent the schools in our division in the MOARK district.

“I’m going to be in charge with communicating with other schools,” Lobster said.

  • Colin Stuerman represented the club in the poster contest.
  • Jennifer Deters, Danielle Kunz and Greta Rompel represented the club in the Major Emphasis Award contest to showcase our work with The Eliminate Project during the Trick or Treat for Unicef – the club raised $1028 in the fight against neonatal and maternal tetanus – a committee chaired by Christian Tebeau.
  • Emma Ingle & Jana Bowman represented our club in the traditional scrapbook contest.

Jana Bowman will be a Secretary where she will “make sure everyone keeps their head on straight. I’m really looking forward to all the service projects and the new board we will have,” Bowman said.
