Nurse Bridget Thomason is going to lead a free training course before school on Monday, April 18th about bleeding control skills. In this national STOP THE BLEED course sponsored by the American Red Cross, participants can be FAST (First Aid for Severe Trauma) certified.

Started by Timberland’s HOSA group, this course has the goal of making high school students more prepared in the event of a traumatic experience. Nurse Thomason is FAST certified and has taught other STOP THE BLEED courses, making her very qualified for the job.

To become certified, complete a 90-minute online assignment before April 18 and then attend the class.

“No it is not hard,” she says. “There is an online section for you to do first and then when we meet in person we will do our hands-on session.” One piece of advice Nurse Thomason gives is “take your time on the online part and don’t be nervous!”
