HOSA is an amazing opportunity for people who are interested in pursuing a career in the medical field. It allows you to gain real life experience by volunteering in hospitals, or even shadowing people who work in the medical field. HOSA also teaches leadership, and independence. HOSA is an opportunity that anyone can take advantage of because everyone is welcome.
HOSA provides numerous opportunities for people who are wanting to gain experience in healthcare. HOSA offers CPR certification, medical community service, and volunteering opportunities.
Jennifer Strathman and Sheena Biereman are both sponsors of HOSA, who support students, and give them guidance so they can take advantage of the many opportunities that HOSA offers.
“I chose to sponsor HOSA because it motivates students to go into a healthcare field, and teaches leadership,” Strathman said. Strathman’s favorite part of HOSA is getting to know the students.
Sadeel Eid (10) is a member of HOSA who is interested in pursuing a career in pediatrics. This is Eid’s first year in HOSA. Eid is a part of the Barbara James Program which helps you gain 100 hours of medical community service.
“My favorite part of HOSA is that it has lots of different resources for people interested in the medical field,” Eid said.
Alissa Bybee (10) is also a member of HOSA who is interested in being an OBGYN. This is Bybee’s second year in HOSA. Bybee is involved in a volunteer program at Mercy through HOSA.
“I enjoy getting together and exploring different ideas for blood drives and spirit days,” Bybee said.

“The overall goal of HOSA is to be a professional organization for students who are interested in healthcare,” Strathman said.
HOSA gives students a chance to practice leadership and networking skills. HOSA also pushes students to try new things which helps them be more educated and well rounded individuals. Overall, HOSA is a place where students can have fun, and experience new things.
